Brooklyn parents call on state to oust anti-Israel parent board

Four disgusted Jewish mothers are demanding that the entire controversial Brooklyn School District Parent Council be disbanded over its discriminatory and anti-Semitic behavior.

The District 14 Area Education Council, a volunteer board serving Greenpoint and Williamsburg, uses its official platform to promote anti-Israel views and organize rallies, according to a petition filed with the state Department of Education. It canceled its last two monthly meetings, claiming it had received threats for advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“This case is not about the First Amendment rights of the CEC’s 14 member states. They can express their personal and political views through media associated with their personal accounts,” the petition states. It also seeks an order prohibiting the CEC from using its platform to communicate opinions about the war and requiring Jews and Israelis to have equal representation.

The petition follows another lawsuit filed last week in Brooklyn federal court alleging that CEC 14 violates the First Amendment rights of parents with differing views.
