Biden’s $8T budget makes claims of deficit-cutting laughable, economist says: ‘An assault on US business’

One top economist called President Biden’s budget proposal an “attack on American businesses” and characterized the current state of America under the current administration as reminiscent of the dystopian novel “1984.”

Steve Moore, a tax hawk who served as chief economist when former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, was chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, spent 40 years on the budget. He spoke in “Life, Liberty, Levin” in a budget analysis that he had never done before. The president rejected his own proposal to move toward political centrism in his election year.

“Typically, Democrats move to the center in election years and pretend to be conservative,” Moore said.

“You have to give Joe Biden credit. He’s not going centrist. So this is not ‘the age of big government is over,’ it’s ‘the age of big government is here to stay.’ ‘It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before. ”

While seeking re-election in 1996 against then-Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.), President Bill Clinton made this declaration during that year’s State of the Union address, and later went on to challenge then-Sen. He worked with House Speaker Newt Gingrich to balance the federal budget for the first time in a century.

Moore noted that host Mark Levine had previously claimed that Biden had misled him about deficit reduction numbers, saying that his estimate of the 10-year debt forecast was 10 trillion. He said it was close to the dollar.

“How will the deficit be reduced?” Moore asked, adding that if the incumbent wants to make such a case about fiscal responsibility, he is doing exactly the wrong thing by reining in spending.

“I’m a classic Reagan supply-sider. You want lower taxes to bring back jobs and business, and that’s what Reagan did.” [and] done.Donald Trump did it. [and] It helped create a great economy. ”

Moore went on to argue that under Biden’s tax plan, U.S. tax rates would be higher than nationalist economies like Russia and China.

He went on to offer one of Army’s favorite quotes about such prodigal proposals.

“He used to say liberals love jobs but hate employers,” Moore quipped. “This is an attack on American businesses, small businesses, American businesses, and it’s playing directly into the hands of our adversaries like China and Russia, and our European competitors.”

Moore said former President Donald Trump, whom he advised during the last presidential election, likes to talk about how other Western countries are in many ways “laughing at us behind our backs.”

“That’s exactly what’s happening here. This is a ‘Put America Last’ budget,” he said.

Biden’s budget “will be significantly cut,” according to the numbers reported by Levin. [GDP] In the long run, it increases by 2.2%. Capital increases by 3.8% and wages by 1.6%. ”

“This guy is running away saying he’s reduced the debt, he’s making a responsible proposal, it’s like $8 trillion,” he fumed.

In a joint statement from several House Republican leaders, the caucus called the budget’s costs “a further stark reminder of the current administration’s insatiable appetite for reckless spending and the Democratic Party’s disregard for fiscal responsibility.” Stated.

“Biden’s budget not only misses the mark, it is a roadmap that will accelerate America’s decline,” the statement said.
