On Friday, a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department K-9 unit was airlifted to a trauma veterinary hospital after being stabbed multiple times by a suspect.

Enzo, a Belgian Malinois, was allegedly stabbed by a suspect who came out of a South Las Vegas Boulevard apartment with a knife. Enzo was bitten and stabbed by the suspect.

Enzo, 2, was deployed as a non-lethal option when the suspect approached officers with a knife.

K-9 was rushed to a veterinary hospital and then airlifted to a veterinary trauma hospital. Police say he is in stable condition.

The police department said Friday that he will remain in the hospital’s intensive care unit overnight and continue treatment.

Enzo is held by a police officer after surgery

In an update on Saturday, police said: “Enzo is feeling better today. The whole team is taking the time to provide him with medical care. We would like to once again thank all the skilled veterinarians who have been looking after Enzo. Thank you to VCA Decatur and Veterinary Emergency Services.” + Critical Care Center and Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center. ”

The unidentified suspect was taken into custody and is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition with a self-inflicted stab wound.
