Powerball rises to $975M after no winners Saturday night

After no one matched the six numbers drawn Saturday night, the Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $975 million, with no one hitting the jackpot for nearly three months.

The winning numbers drawn were 12, 13, 33, 50, 52, and the red Powerball 23.

No one has won the Powerball top prize since a Michigan ticket sold for $842.4 million on New Year’s Day, marking 38 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

This winless streak brings them closer to the record of 41 consecutive draws, which was set twice in 2022 and 2021.

The $975 million prize will go to the only winner who chooses a 30-year annuity. Winners who choose cash will be paid $471.7 million.

Prizes are subject to federal tax, and many states also tax lottery winnings.

As the prizes increase, the raffle attracts more ticket sales and subsequently becomes harder to hit the jackpot.

The long odds for Saturday’s draw were 1 in 292.2 million.

Powerball is played in 45 states, plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
