Israel reportedly killed Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) official, in an airstrike in Damascus, Syria, on Monday, as Israel faces increasing threats from Iran and its terrorist proxies. It’s a sign that there is.
The airstrike is reminiscent of the U.S. airstrike on Revolutionary Guards leader Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad, Iraq, in January 2020, which successfully deterred Iran from further attacks on U.S. facilities and personnel. It became a strategy. (Then-candidate Joe Biden criticized the attack, as did all other major Democratic presidential candidates.)
President Donald Trump declared the Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization, but Biden has not yet rescinded that designation.
