A group of eight undocumented immigrants found crouching with their children in the basement of a New York City apartment building are on the hook for drugs and weapons after police found ketamine, cocaine and a gun in their home, sources said. He has been indicted on charges.
New York City police arrested the migrants on Wednesday after authorities were called to a Bronx apartment shortly after 10 p.m. on reports of a person holding a gun, police said.
When police arrived, they found a man pointing a gun at someone in the driveway of an apartment at 3259 Hull Avenue, NYPD Sergeant John Chell told the New York Post. However, the suspect fled when police approached and took refuge in the basement of the building.

Officers allegedly chased and tackled the man, later identified as Hector Desousa Villalta, 24, of Venezuela, who was arrested last year on attempted murder charges and later released.
While police were strangling Desousa Villalta, Javier Alborno, 22, also from Venezuela, tried to sneak out of the same basement with a handgun under his arm. But the officers saw him and also handcuffed him, Chell added. Alborno is no stranger to law enforcement, having been arrested and charged with possessing a loaded firearm in September.
A search of the basement of the apartment found two additional guns and a large amount of controlled substances, police said.

The newspaper quoted Chell as saying the weapons included a “ghost gun”, three extended magazines, a box of ammunition, a bag of ketamine and a bag of ketamine mixed with cocaine.
Police also found a 7-year-old child inside the apartment. New York City police could not reveal the identity of the child’s parents.
Fox News officials said the eight suspects, many from South American countries, were all squatting inside the house.

“There were a lot of people, a lot of young people, a lot of bikes,” Munoz told WNYW. “At one point, there were seven or eight bikes parked behind me.”

Vermondez-Barrios is also in custody and wanted on retail theft and shoplifting charges in both New York and Pennsylvania.
The remaining six immigrants were all released without bail, despite requests for bail by the Bronx State Attorney’s Office.
