TV tonight: knife-edge viewing of cancer surgeons at work | Television

Surgeon: Life in danger

9pm, BBC Two

A realistic video of an outstanding cancer surgeon working at Southampton University Hospital. I don’t hesitate to show the parts that make me uncomfortable. First, an operation will be performed to remove a lump behind the elderly man’s right eye, a procedure that is only performed 10 times a year. The 83-year-old man will then need both his bladder and prostate removed, but his heart condition puts him at higher risk for complications. Holly Richardson

This week’s Retro Food Series is all about exercise crazes and fad diets. It takes us back to the days when Brits would fax recipes for cabbage soup to each other before doing aerobics in front of the TV for breakfast, then sitting at the hotplate eating Findus Lean. cooking. Once the country phased out Lycra, supermarkets were ready for cash. GV

Magical Thinking… Asha, voiced by Ariana DeBose in Disney’s Wishes. Photo: Disney/AP

Wish (Chris Buck/Fawn Viera-Sansone, 2023), disney plus
“When You Wish Upon a Star” is essentially a unique origin story in this traditionally styled animated musical that is part of Disney’s 100th anniversary celebrations. Ariana DeBose voices Asha, a teenager who lives in an island kingdom ruled by the magician Magnifico (Chris Pine). The deal he makes with his people is to remove their wishes and then allow them to forget them and continue living a simple life. Sometimes he grants wishes, but it’s on his terms. Asha objects to this and makes a wish on a star. The star comes to Earth to wreak magical havoc and release people’s dreams. Simon Wardell
