Trevor Megill, brother of Mets’ Tylor, concussed after passing out

Trevor Megill, the younger brother of injured Mets starting pitcher Tyler Megill, suffered a concussion after contracting food poisoning and passing out while in New York for the opening series.

The Brewers relief pitcher was placed on the seven-day concussion list.

“He ended up passing out in the phone store…he passed out, fell to the ground and hit his head,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. According to the Associated Press. “When he found out, he called our people to let them know. The next morning we examined him and he had a concussion.”

Murphy said Trevor contracted food poisoning on Saturday and that was his last appearance.

After the team returned to Milwaukee with a 3-0 record, Megill reportedly fell inside the store and hit his head on the ground.

“This is scary,” Murphy said. “I don’t think there was a lot of room in his system.”

The Brewers promoted right-hander JB Bukauskas from Triple-A to the roster in Trevor’s place.

Trevor pitched scoreless innings in each of the Brewers’ first two wins, including a 3-1 win on opening day and a 7-6 win on Saturday.

He had two hits while striking out three batters in his Saturday appearance.

Trevor has a 5.13 ERA in four seasons, and this season will be his second with the Brewers. The 30-year-old posted a 3.63 ERA in 34 2/3 innings (31 innings) last year.

“He’s doing well,” Brewers director of baseball operations Matt Arnold said, according to the Associated Press. “Certainly, we want to be careful about things like that.”

His younger brother, Tyler, was also placed on injured reserve on Monday with a mild shoulder strain after lasting just four innings in the Brewers’ sweep on Sunday.

With Tyler not released, the Mets signed Julio Teheran to fill their rotation problems.
