Spencer Rattler reveals team he had to ‘prepare for the most’ in meetings

While NFL draft prospects look to improve their stock by showcasing their skills to the front offices of all 32 teams on the field, they are also subjected to tough tests off the field.

South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler appears to be the same way, doing everything he can to be one of the top gunslingers selected later this month.

Rattler has been put on the back burner behind Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels and JJ McCarthy, and even Michael Penix and Bo Nix are often picked up before Rattler.

However, teams are still narrowing down on Rattler, and he revealed that some teams are definitely looking for a quarterback who “had to prepare the most.”

“probably [the] denver [Broncos]” Rutler said. “Up and Adams” on FanDuel TV.

“Considering what we did for the QB quiz and installation, it was pretty great. But we definitely needed to study that. But we did a great job on that.”

Rattler said his “quizzes” were mostly about “offense stuff, quarterback stuff, actual analysis of offenses, formations, things like that.”

Head coach Sean Payton praised the upcoming professional player, saying, “He knows what he’s doing.”

It makes sense that Denver would talk to Rattler. They released Russell Wilson last month after two tumultuous seasons.

The Broncos gave up a lot of money to acquire Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, including multiple top draft picks along with Noah Fant, Shelby Harris and Drew Lock.

In two seasons with Denver, Wilson went 11-19 as a starter, completing 63.3 percent of his passes for 6,594 yards, 42 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He made the Pro Bowl in nine of the past 10 seasons with Seattle, but missed both seasons.

Denver owns the No. 12 pick in the NFL Draft, and while not necessarily at the top, they have plenty of options at the position.

After transferring from Oklahoma State, Rattler played two seasons with the Gamecocks. He completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 6,212 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions.

His best season was 2020 with the Sooners, when he threw for a career-high 28 touchdowns against just seven picks and threw for 3,031 yards, the second-most in his college career.

Rattler also scored 16 touchdowns in college.
