Congressional Democrats are renaming a federal prison in South Florida after former President Trump, countering Republican efforts to rename Washington, D.C.’s main international airport after the former commander-in-chief.
Rep. Jerry Connolly of Virginia, Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida, and Rep. John Garamendi of California announced Friday that Donald Trump will leave the Miami Federal Correctional Facility, a low-security facility that houses male inmates. – J. Trump introduced a two-page bill to redesignate the facility as a federal correctional facility. .
The move was announced by Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.) and supported by six other House Republicans to rename Washington Dulles International Airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport. This is in response to the bill.

“When my Republican colleagues introduced a bill to rename Dulles after Donald Trump, I decided that renaming a federal prison was a more appropriate option,” Connolly said in a statement announcing the bill. “He said,” he said. “There’s no reason to wait.”
“Donald Trump faces nearly 100 felonies. He has been found responsible for sexual abuse and then defaming the victims of that abuse,” he added. “He’s been fined hundreds of millions of dollars in civil fraud cases. It’s no wonder the federal prison closest to Mar-a-Lago bears his name.”

In a news release announcing his proposal, Reschenthaler cited President Trump’s energy and economic record, border policies that have kept illegal immigration at historically low levels, and support for China and Israel.
“In my lifetime, our country has never been greater under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump.” “There is no greater symbol of freedom, prosperity and strength than hearing ‘Welcome to Trump International Airport’ as millions of domestic and international travelers travel through our airports and land on American soil.”
“Everyone knows that President Trump loves to write his name in gold letters on every building,” Moskowitz said, but “he wrote his name on a federal building.” That has never happened before.”
