Padres’ Graham Pauley records the most embarrassing strikeout of 2024

Well, that’s one way to bang bang play.

Infielder Graham Polley had the misfortune of suffering a tough strikeout in the Padres’ eventual 3-2 loss to the rival Giants on Friday afternoon.

But it wasn’t a run-of-the-mill strikeout against submariner Tyler Rodgers, it was Paulie swinging and whiffing so much that an actual baseball hit him in the shoulder, face and helmet.

Paulie, According to ESPNclaimed after the game that he actually tipped the ball before going up for a strike.

Replays seemed to confirm this, but it wasn’t a reviewable play because he swung and got a strikeout.

Polley was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts that day, but his batting average this season remains at .154.

This at-bat was one of many missed opportunities for the Padres, who had six hits, but went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position, and Tylo’s walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning cost them the game. Estrada.

With this loss, the Padres fell to 4-6 on the season.

The Giants are currently 3-5.
