Utah Gov. Spencer Cox More of a ‘Gavin Newsom 2.0’ than a Republican

Utah Congressman Phil Lyman (R) said: Breitbart News Saturday Gov. Spencer Cox (Republican) is said to be more like Gavin Newsom 2.0 than a Republican.

Lyman wants to unseat Cox and believes the current governor supports Democrats more than the average Republican. Lyman said Cox recently toasted Biden at the Gridiron Club, an institutional banquet for national media and correspondents.

“I don’t understand why he has an R.” [Republican] To be honest, his name is next. His State of the Nation Address was like Gavin Newsom 2.0,” Lyman said. Breitbart News Saturday Hosted by Matthew Boyle.

“It doesn’t resonate with Utah voters,” the Utah gubernatorial candidate said.

Lyman added, “People are very confused by a governor who thinks it’s his job to do whatever President Biden wants and fight Donald Trump. It’s weird.”

Lyman accused Cox of being sympathetic to President Joe Biden’s open borders policy. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) declared Utah a sanctuary state in 2023, following three Utah counties. Ended Intergovernmental Agreement with ICE.

Lyman said Cox is “certainly committed to this whole plan to overwhelm the United States with illegal immigration.”

The Utah gubernatorial candidate also accused Cox of overly aggressive coronavirus lockdown policies, which Lyman said contributed to the governor’s victory in the last gubernatorial election.

He said, “Spencer Cox is the only one who gets airtime. And he won the governor’s race because he shut down his opponent.”

A poll released in March gave Lyman a nine-point lead among Republican state convention delegates, Breitbart News’ Nick Gilbertson exclusively reported.

“A poll conducted by TAG Strategies from March 14th to 20th found that 43% of verified participant respondents supported Lyman in a hypothetical two-way contest, with Lyman leading by 34%,” Gilbertson said. It turned out that he was 9 points ahead of Cox in %. Additionally, 16 percent are unsure who they will support and 6 percent would support another candidate. ”
