Mother stabbed to death while walking with her baby in a stroller, suspect still on the loose: police

A young woman was stabbed to death while walking with her baby in Bradford, England, authorities said.

Krusma Akhtar, 27, from Oldham, was stabbed while walking at around 3.21pm on Saturday. West Yorkshire Police said she was “taken to hospital where she later died from her injuries.”

Akhtar was pushing a stroller at the time, but authorities said the infant was not physically injured.

“She was with her young baby at the time of the incident. The baby was unharmed and was not harmed by the incident,” police said in a statement.

Authorities identified the murder suspect as Habibul Masum, 25, of Oldham. Authorities believe the suspect and Akhter knew each other.

Masam was photographed standing outside a bus stop shortly after the murder. Police also recovered a knife from the scene, but believe the suspect may still be armed.

Police said: “He was wearing a duffel coat with three large horizontal lines in grey, white and black, light blue or gray tracksuit bottoms with a small black emblem on the left pocket and maroon sweatshirts. I can see them there,” he explained. “Witnesses also reported seeing him wearing gray clothing.” [hoodie] with the hood up. ”

Police also arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of aiding Masum’s murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said in a statement: “This is an absolutely tragic incident in which a mother lost her life in the most horrifying circumstances.”

Mr Atkinson added: “We understand this is causing significant concern to the local community.” “Local police teams are patrolling the area and providing reassurance to the community.”

Mr Atkinson also urged anyone who may recognize Masum to contact authorities immediately.

“I would urge anyone who has seen him or knows his whereabouts not to approach him and to call police immediately on 999,” the officer explained.
