New Biden campaign ad blames Trump for near-death of Texas woman who was denied abortion

The Biden campaign on Monday slammed former President Donald Trump’s stance on abortion in a new ad criticizing the death of a Texas woman who was denied an abortion after a miscarriage.

of 60 second adThe book, titled “Willow’s Box,” features an emotional interview with a woman named Amanda Zulawski, who describes the miscarriage of her baby (which she wanted to name Willow) and her refusal to have an abortion. He talked about an infection that nearly killed him twice.

The text of the ad describes how doctors were forced to send Zulawski home after she miscarried because of a Texas law that prohibits abortion even when medically necessary. He was explaining. Three days later, Zulawski was admitted to intensive care with sepsis, and the ad claimed that the infection may mean she will never be able to conceive again.

After several minutes of Zulawski and her husband sobbing, the words “Donald Trump did this” appear on a black screen.

The ad was released hours after President Trump released a statement on his position on abortion, in which he appointed the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, which made abortion legal nationwide. He said he was proud of what he did.

He said the issue of abortion should be left up to each state and expressed support for exceptions to the law that would allow abortion in cases of rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life. He did not support banning abortions after 15 or 16 weeks.

“No woman should ever be forced into a situation like Amanda’s, where Texas’ abortion ban leaves her without access to medical care and suffers life-threatening injuries. But that’s only possible today because of Donald Trump. is the reality of the United States of America and the nightmare he boasts about,” Biden-Harris 2024 campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.

Rodriguez was satisfied that Trump had “made it clear” that he supported the “cruel and extreme abortion ban” in the Lone Star State, which caused Zulawski’s near-death experience.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre echoed this sentiment, saying: tell the reporter “So the only reason extreme abortion bans are now in place across the country is because of the judges the former president and Senate Republicans put on the court.”

Biden said Trump is “just lying” about his support for overturning Roe. “It’s never been about public policy or what’s right or what Trump believes. It’s always been about politics.”

The ad is part of a growing attack by the Biden campaign on President Trump’s stance on abortion in recent weeks. Earlier this year, the campaign announced plans to focus on President Trump’s impact on abortion access and the reproductive rights crisis in 2024.

The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
