The Masters is set at Augusta National, where 88 of the world’s best players aim to take home one of those glorious green jackets.
Of those 88, 13 LIV Golf players qualified. Interestingly, that group includes seven former Masters champions.
LIV golfers teeing up this week’s Masters are Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Karl Schwartzel, Cam Smith, Joaquin Niemann, Brooks Koepka, Bubba Watson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Sergio Garcia. , Adrian Melonk, Tyrrell Hatton, and the defense. Champion Jon Rahm.
Last year, besides Rahm, three other LIV golfers finished in the top five: Koepka, Mickelson and Reed.
Will the members of LIV be able to repeat their success in 2024?
Garcia suggested in a tweet that he is confident one of them will be at the top of the leaderboard on Championship Sunday.
DeChambeau, Smith and Niemann are among the questionable honorable mentions who could do well at Augusta National this year.
But these three LIV players will have the best chance of winning the green jacket.
3. Patrick Reed
The first person on this list is Reed. Despite being the center of attention in the golf world, one thing about him is that he plays well at Augusta National. Reed is the first previous winner on this list.
he won in 2018beat Rickie Fowler by one stroke and Jordan Spieth by two strokes.
Reed finished inside the top four in 2023, marking his fourth top-10 finish in the past six years. The 33-year-old also finished T18th at the 2023 PGA Championship.
He’s also one of the LIV golf players currently playing well, so if it has anything to do with Augusta National, he could be a player to keep an eye on. Reed is an incredibly competitive guy, maybe too much of it. Still, he shouldn’t count Captain America out because this tournament is special to him.
2. Dustin Johnson
Johnson is the second former winner on this list. He earned his first green jacket at the Fall 2020 Masters. With very few spectators, Johnson ultimately conquered this historic course, setting a tournament record of 20 under par and winning by five strokes over Sung-jae Im and Cam Smith.
This year will be Johnson’s 14th appearance in the Masters. He has finished inside the top 12 in six of his past eight starts.
Johnson has won two majors after winning the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont. His game suited Augusta National well and he is currently playing well. If he gets hot, a second green jacket could be his.
1. Brooks Koepka
Koepka has come close to winning the green jacket multiple times, having finished second behind Tiger Woods in 2019 and Jon Rahm last year.
This will be his ninth appearance at Augusta National. The former Florida State University Seminole led most of last year’s Masters, but was unable to hold onto that spot Sunday.
The 33-year-old left Augusta National with something to prove, and he proved it at his next major championship.
Koepka won his fifth major and third PGA Championship at Oak Hill. His competitiveness in the majors is why he ranks #1 on this list.
Despite not playing as often as PGA Tour players, it didn’t affect his ability last year, and it won’t affect him in 2024 either.
Koepka wanted this tournament so badly, and the year was finally here for him to do it. If his game is where it needs to be, take note. There is a chance that Brooks will take down the Hammers and score a big win.
