Speaker Johnson Submitting to Intel Agencies on Spy Powers Reform ‘Prime Example’ of ‘D.C. Cartel’

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana), who has been flattering the intelligence community over controversial surveillance laws, is “DC. He said it was a “classic example” of a “cartel.”

Biggs spoke as the House Rules Committee prepares to review the House policy process. consider Foreign Information Protection Act (RISAA) Reform Act. The bill attempts to reform Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a controversial surveillance law aimed at targeting foreign adversaries. However, it often monitors Americans’ private communications.

Mr. Johnson previously supported warrant requirements and voted in favor of an amendment that would have prohibited intelligence and law enforcement agencies from purchasing Americans’ personal information, which privacy advocates say violates the Fourth Amendment. I think it will be avoided. Mr Johnson, now chairman, says he does not support either of the reforms in the Oversight Reform Bill.

Mr. Biggs is the sponsor of the Section 702 Reform Act, the Protecting Liberty and Eliminating Warrantless Surveillance Act, which passed the House Judiciary Committee. Former House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatt (R-Va.) and Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said this is the most important protection of civil liberties for “generations.” He said it was one of the bills.

Arizona conservatives called Johnson’s sudden shift on privacy reform a “classic example” of the D.C. cartel pressuring leaders to maintain the status quo.

Mr. Biggs said: “It looks like you’re involved with the D.C. cartel. I think they’re here to tell you there’s going to be blood on your hands. And the cartel is going to try to intimidate people and put fear into them. And some people forget why they took their original position.”

bigs I got it. Demonstrators on January 6th and Black Lives Matter (BLM) demonstrators are being monitored under Section 702.

“How are we any different from the Chinese Communist Party if we can no longer speak publicly about issues without triggering a federal search and interrogation? [Chinese Communist Party] Now,” Biggs asked rhetorically.

Biggs said there are “amendments in place” that will prioritize the actions the Intelligence Committee prioritizes regarding the Section 702 reauthorization bill.

He said he would like to see a rulemaking process that leaves lawmakers on record regarding warrant requirements and other reforms, despite the “uphill climb.”

Arizona conservatives also responded to a motion by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to remove Johnson as House majority leader. He said he was focused on FISA and impeachment, but said he knew he was “clearly disappointed” with the current state of the House.

He said, “I’m really unhappy with the continuing resolutions and the idea of, ‘Oh, we’re going to set this up for future fights.'” How far away will future fights be? [Rep.] Warren Davidson always says that if we were to fight, it would really be a surprise attack. Because everyone would be surprised. ”
