Son allegedly drives home and stabs mother 70 times

A University of Florida preparatory student drove home from school and stabbed his mother to death as soon as she answered the door, Florida authorities said.

Emanuel Espinoza, a 21-year-old college student, drove from college to his mother’s house in Frostproof, Florida, where he committed the alleged attack.

Video release Espinoza was shown approaching his mother’s front door and attempting to open it before knocking, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Video captured by Ring’s doorbell shows Espinoza holding the weapon behind her mother’s back as she waits for her to answer the front door.

“As soon as she opened the door, the man lunged and started stabbing her,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “He testified that because he had taken biology classes, he knew where to stab for maximum effect,” he added.

Her mother, Elvia Espinoza, was reportedly stabbed 70 times by the suspect.

The suspect was asked if he loved his mother, and authorities claimed he replied, “Yes, I do.”

“Are you all getting along?” the police allege they asked.

“Yeah, eight out of 10 of us get along, but I’ve wanted to kill her for years, and I decided to kill her while driving home from Gainesville.” [in Florida] Today was that day,” Sheriff Judd claimed the college student said.

Sheriff Judd said during the attack, Espinoza realized his mother’s hand was still moving and “stabbed her again.”

Espinoza also allegedly told detectives that he cut his hand with a knife during the stabbing and that he noticed it when he went to the sink to wash his hand and knife. At that point, he allegedly went to his mother for Neosporin to treat the wound, but then he “realized her mother was dead.”

Espinoza was heard in a 911 call released by the sheriff’s office that said the incident occurred shortly after he allegedly committed the murder.

“Tell me exactly what happened,” the paramedics urged him.

“I killed someone,” Espinoza reportedly replied.

“Okay, help is on the way,” the operator said. “Just hold on, okay? Help will be on the way.”

The operator then advised the suspect to “take everything out.” [his] To avoid putting hands in pockets [his] pocket. ”

“How did that happen?” the woman on the phone asked.

“I went to the front door and stabbed my mother,” she said.

Elvia Espinoza, a 46-year-old mother of three, was a teacher at nearby Ben Hill Griffin Elementary School, where she taught second grade.

Emmanuel Espinoza is charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail.
