John Cena dishes on Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s ‘Fast’ feud

John Cena shares insight into the nearly decade-long feud between Fast and Furious co-stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.

Dax Shepard on the show “Armchair Expert” Podcastthe WWE superstar turned Hollywood actor, 46, spoke out about rumors of tension on set between Johnson and Diesel.

“There are certainly rumors about it. You can’t deny that,” Cena said. “You have two guys who are very alpha and driven. There are two, but he can only be one.”

Cena is one of the newest additions to the Fast universe, joining the cast of F9: The Fast Saga in 2021 as Jacob Toretto, the estranged brother of Dom Toretto (Diesel).

Fortunately for Cena, he explained that his days dealing with his ego in WWE prepared him to handle whatever drama came his way.

“Hey, remember I got thrown into the locker room. [we have] He’s a generational veteran,” the five-time WWE Champion said.

“‘What did your father do?’ ‘Fighting.’ “What did Grandpa do?” “Fighting.” I have also been in such an environment. Just know the situation in the room and adapt to what’s going on. ”

Cena alluded to the actor’s professionalism and respect for the “Fast” series.

“I’m invited into someone’s home, into someone’s family. And regardless of how I physically look compared to other human beings, this is one IP with nine installments. It’s an action movie. It’s rarefied air,” Cena explained. “At least you have to respect that.”

Cena didn’t want to discuss the feud any further and ruffle feathers, but told Shepard that he was just grateful to be a part of such a beloved series.

“I’m not trying to get a sandbox. That’s not my job,” he said. “I appreciate what you’ve given me. I just want to be the best fire truck I can be.”

Rumors of a feud between the two action stars began circulating when Johnson, 51, joined the film franchise in 2011 as Diesel’s antagonist, Luke Hobbs, in Fast Five.

Their animosity worsened in 2016 after Johnson’s now-deleted Instagram post criticized her “male co-stars” on the “Fast” series.

Diesel, 56, and Johnson reportedly had disagreements with each other backstage.
