A 10-year-old boy trapped in the chimney of his Massachusetts home was rescued on Wednesday, according to local reports.
The boy climbed out of a second-story window and onto the roof of his home in Whitman, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of Boston, around 4:15 p.m., a spokeswoman for the town’s fire department said. he told WCVB.
The boy then hid at the top of the chimney and was unable to escape, authorities said.
Whitman Fire Department personnel were quickly able to rescue the child from the chimney. He was unharmed.
The boy’s father said he was relieved because he was at work when he received a call from his other son, who said he had seen his brother climb onto the roof.
The father immediately called 911 and rushed home. However, by the time they arrived, the boy had already been released and returned to the ground.
