PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Scott Avedisian, CEO of the Rhode Island Transit Authority, was arrested Thursday by Dan McKee, just two weeks after he was charged in a hit-and-run at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Warwick. He submitted his resignation to the governor.
The announcement came on the same day the RIPTA board met behind closed doors to discuss Avedisyan’s fate.

Avedisyan pleaded not guilty last week to a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident after police said he caused a three-vehicle crash at a Warwick McDonald’s drive-thru and fled the scene.
The former Warwick mayor began serving as RIPTA director in 2018, but a successor has not yet been named.
