Six people were reported dead in a stabbing in Australia on Saturday afternoon, including a suspect who was shot dead by a police officer.
The incident took place at Bondi Junction Westfield, a six-storey shopping center in Sydney.

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Anthony Cooke confirmed at a press conference that six people were killed, including the attacker. He said the only suspect was shot and killed by police alone.
“She was confronted by a criminal who had moved to level 5 at this stage. [of the mall] She kept walking quickly behind him to catch up with him. He turned her around and faced her, raising her knife. She fired a gun and the individual is now deceased,” Cook said.

Eight other people were taken to hospital for treatment. There are also reports that young children were among those stabbed by the suspect.

Cook said the suspect was in the shopping center but then left, returned and began stabbing people inside the center. The motive and identity of the suspect are unknown.
