In response to Iran’s launch of a long-range drone, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), and Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) issued a statement in support of Israel.
Iran’s attack on Israel was reportedly in retaliation for Israel’s airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, which killed seven Iranian military officials.
“As Israel faces this vicious attack from Iran, the United States must demonstrate its full commitment to working with our vital ally,” Johnson wrote in the letter. post X, formerly known as Twitter. “We have to be convinced that the world is not just about Israel.”

Gates also issued a statement in response to Iran’s attacks on Israel, calling them “escalating.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) issued a statement condemning President Joe Biden’s “weakness” and “ineffective leadership” that led to the attack.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) also criticized the Biden administration for renewing sanctions waivers for Iran that would give her access to $10 billion in assets.
