Masters: Scottie Scheffler willing to walk away from Green Jacket for 1 important reason

Scottie Scheffler holds a 54-hole lead at the Masters and is looking to win his second green jacket.

But he also has something more important in mind.

His wife Meredith is currently eight months pregnant, which explains why she stayed at home in Dallas this week instead of traveling to Augusta National Park to support her husband. Mr. Scheffler made this known earlier this week, when he said that if his wife gave birth early, she would withdraw.

He remained steadfast in his decision after Saturday’s round.

“The most exciting thing right now is not winning the Masters. I’m about to have a baby,” Scheffler said Saturday evening.

“There’s definitely a way to get home right away. I have someone with access to a cell phone, if that’s okay with you. And yes, you can always go home if you want.”

Schaeffler is a man of faith and family. He values his beliefs and his loved ones more than his craft. The way he talks about his wife Meredith is wholesome and wonderful.

He also relies heavily on her support, doing so before the final round of the 2022 Masters, which became his first major win.

“It was an unusual position for me because at the time, starting in 2022, I hadn’t won on tour yet. I had good results in the Ryder Cup and played consistent golf, but I hadn’t won on tour yet.” explained Scheffler.

“All of a sudden, we won Phoenix, we won the match play, we won the Bay Hill. We won the match play against the No. 1 in the world. It shows up. [at Augusta] As the world’s number one. And then on Sunday, Meredith and I got a little emotional about what was going on at the time because our lives were changing at such a fast pace. Things are very different now and I feel like we’ve both grown up. ”
