Following Friday’s second round of the Masters, Tiger Woods defeated a number of stars who qualified. In doing so, he set a record for most consecutive cuts at Augusta National with 24.
That was the high point of the week for Woods. After scoring a career-worst 82 points on Saturday and being completely eliminated from the tournament, Tiger played Sunday with some pressure off.
Unfortunately, things continue to take a turn for the worse.
Woods made an early birdie on the par-5 second hole, then bogeyed the par-4 third and completely flopped on the par-4 fifth.
Tiger’s tee shot flew deep into the trees. Woods hit a provisional shot, knowing he might not find it. To no one’s surprise, he split the fairway.
Unfortunately it didn’t count.
Woods eventually found the ball, but it was in an unplayable area. Even a two-club length reliever wouldn’t have allowed him to attempt a shot. He was forced to tell a lie he couldn’t tell.
So Tiger had to go back to the tee box. This is the only instance where players are allowed to use golf carts during the round to maintain the pace of play.
Technically, Woods hit his third tee shot on that hole.
In the end, he hit a triple bogey with seven points. He then made another bogey on the 6th before pars continued.
Sadly, Woods will finish last among all the players who qualified.
That begs the question, have we seen the last of Tiger in the majors?
