NYPD says officer did not rip off anti-Israel activist’s hijab during arrest: ‘Wholly untrue’

The New York City Police Department has released body camera footage of an officer gently helping a woman who is wearing a hijab after a radical anti-Israel activist claimed she was “beaten” by police and had her hijab ripped off. He defended the actions of the officers.

“We are aware of social media posts regarding individuals detained by police yesterday and accusations that officers removed the subject’s hijab. This is completely false,” said NYPP Deputy Director. Kaz Daughtry said in a post on X.

The subject of the video was identified as Nerdeen Kiswani, a vocal anti-Israel activist with a history of run-ins with police, who accused the NYPD of assaulting X against her.

“Today, the third day of Eid, the NYPD brutalized me, arrested me, and robbed me of my money and belongings.[f] my hijab. Without warning. For protesting the massacre in Gaza. They refused to let me put my hijab back on. Even if you try to block my hair, please don’t post pictures of me without hijab,” Kiswani wrote.

Kiswani posted a short video clip showing the chaotic arrest. The video appears to briefly show her with her head uncovered.

“@NYPDDaughtry forced me to further dehumanize myself by hurling so much racist abuse at me for lying about my hijab coming off,” Kiswani wrote. Ta. “I’m just posting this because it doesn’t show my face. My girlfriend’s sister and friend covered my hair after the NYPD pulled me over without it.”

Kiswani also posted a photo of her alleged wounds and claimed it was done by police.

“I have bruises on my wrists and severe pain all over my upper body. This is the second time my hijab has been stripped away during an arrest. When I asked them to put it back on, they covered my face with the hijab and while I couldn’t see anything.’ They pulled my arm and yelled at me to stand up,” Kiswani continued.

Kiswani then called on fellow X users to stand by her side and join the protests.

“Now is the time for all those opposed to genocide to truly unite, refusing to support and cooperate with the racist fascist forces that brutalize Muslim and Arab youth. Because we are protesting the genocide against our own people,” Kiswani wrote.

Body camera video released by the NYPD shows an officer gently trying to help Kiswani put on her hijab.

“Not only was the hijab not removed from the subject’s head, but our officers once again demonstrated the utmost civility, professionalism, and respect by fixing the subject’s hijab. NYPD Police Officer is truly another example of why New York is truly the best in New York,” Daughterly wrote.

Other X users defended the NYPD, claiming this wasn’t the first time Kiswani had “cried wolf.”

“The woman being testified against, Nadine Kiswani, is one of New York City’s leading anti-Semites and a disgusting liar,” Stop Anti-Semitism wrote.

“If you watch this video, it’s clear that you were treated with the utmost respect. If you took off your hijab early, you’d find yourself involved in a violent brawl in public.” I don’t doubt it’s because of choice. It’s so unfortunate that the police have to respond. ‘Waste your time on instigators like you,'” another user wrote.

Kiswani claims the video does not show her actually being arrested.

“The video posted by the NYPD to claim I lied about my hijab is not footage of a violent and humiliating arrest where I was handcuffed and dragged off the ground with my hijab removed. However, I was not allowed to correct myself before being forced to do so.”Multiple male officers made advances on me,” Kiswani wrote.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Kiswani City and the NYPD for comment, but has not yet received a response.
