Yes, just turn it off. No more wrong guesses or messy corrections. Just like in the early days, you just type what you want to say, letter by letter.

Note: Steps may vary depending on your Android make, model, and OS. There are too many variations to cover everything.

Start here on iPhone

For iOS: Tap setting > general > keyboard.
toggle automatic correction to off.
If you need to or change your mind, you can always turn it back on later by following the same steps.

Bonus tip: On iOS, misspelled words are underlined.To turn this off, go to setting > general > keyboard power off again check spelling.

Are you using Android?

go to setting > system > Language and input > onscreen keyboard > G board > Character correction.
Here you can turn it off automatic correction and Show suggestion stripdisplay predicted text.

Bonus tip: In your keyboard settings, toggle the switch next to Predicted text and Show predictions inline.

Add your own slang

If you’re feeling ambitious, program your phone to replace phrases with shorthand. Consider changing “brt” to “be right there” or “1234” to “4 scores and 7 years ago.” It’s pretty smooth!

For iOS: go to setting > general > keyboard > Text replacement. Tap. + Add a word or phrase (plus sign). phrase field (i.e. “in the middle”).inside shortcut Enter the slang of your choice (i.e. “OMW”) in the field.
For Android: go to setting > system > Language and input > onscreen keyboard > G board > dictionary > personal dictionary > English Tap + Click (plus sign) in the top right to add a custom word.slang and abbreviations shortcut Click the box to trigger a custom word.

pro tips: On iOS and Android, shortcut If you leave the field blank, autocorrect won’t bother you with alternate spellings.

Why does AutoCorrect capitalize random words?

You may notice that autocorrect capitalizes random words in your sentences. If you’re typing something like “I need to call your mom and ask her when I need to go to the store,” you need to go back and change all the words that shouldn’t be capitalized. .

If you don’t know why Autocorrect continues to capitalize Mam and Store. Take a peek at your contact list and see how you’re typing names. If you save certain words in your contact list a certain way, AutoCorrect will assume that this is always the way you want them written.

Another simple solution to this problem is to turn off the autocapitalization of keyboard tabs.
