Voting system provider Smartmatic has settled a lawsuit it filed against conservative media outlet One America News Network (OANN) after the 2020 election.
Eric Connolly, Smartmatic’s lead attorney, confirmed the settlement with the company in a statement to The Hill, saying, “Smartmatic has resolved its lawsuit against OANN in a confidential settlement.”
Details regarding the settlement were not disclosed.
OANN is just one of three news networks that sued Smartmatic after the 2020 presidential election, accusing it of maliciously broadcasting false theories about voter fraud and its software.
Smartmatic is still pursuing a lawsuit against cable channels Newsmax and Fox News over their election coverage.
OANN briefly gained popularity during and after the 2020 election thanks to propaganda by former President Trump and his allies.
The network has since faced a number of controversies stemming from its coverage of the 2020 election, segments related to the coronavirus pandemic, and other issues.
In July 2022, the network was discontinued by the last major carrier, Verizon, and is still facing a similar lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems.
