Rangers’ Jacob Trouba nominated again for humanitarian award

Jacob Trouba added his second nomination for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy to his Rangers captain’s accomplishments on Wednesday.

For the first time, past winners of the award and the NHL Foundation Player of the Year award will join a selection committee, including NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, to vote on this year’s recipient.

In a press release Wednesday, the NHL said, “The selection committee will consider the criteria of a candidate’s inspiration, engagement, and impact to positively benefit the community.”

The winner will receive a $25,000 donation to the charity of their choice, as well as a grant of up to $20,000 for their team to organize “special activities related to humanitarian causes.” You will also be eligible to make a proposal.

Trouba has been a candidate for that honor for the past few seasons.
