In a letter to Mayor Lucas shared exclusively with Fox News Digital, Mr. Bailey highlighted the real-world implications of open border policies.
“An illegal alien from Venezuela who repeatedly ignored U.S. immigration laws was actually granted a work permit based on a false and illegal policy enacted by Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas,” Bailey said. he said. “In February, he brutally murdered a young college student named Laken Hope Riley.”

“But against the backdrop of literally millions of illegal aliens flooding into our borders, overwhelming the social safety nets of America’s largest cities, and in some cases committing violent crimes against our citizens, you is actively encouraging them to come to the Show Me State,” Bailey said.
Bailey referenced a post Lucas wrote on social media, declaring:
“We welcome you to Kansas City, and I’m proud to work with my fellow mayors in Denver and New York City to ensure the decompression of our newly arriving communities.”
Mr. Bailey added that Mr. Lucas later amended his statement and applied the proposal only to “those who are lawfully present and have a lawful work permit,” but Mr. Lucas did not agree with the fundamentals. He said the issue was ignored.
“Secretary Mayorkas’ open border program itself is illegal. Your statements are so irresponsible,” Bailey said. “Not only do you ignore the fact that Laken Riley’s killer had a so-called ‘work permit,’ you actively encourage and encourage Missouri businesses to become involved in fundamentally illegal programs. You are exposing yourself to legal liability in the process.”

Bailey said allowing and accepting illegal immigrants violates Missouri law, which prohibits state businesses from hiring or employing illegal immigrants. It is also a felony to knowingly transport an illegal immigrant in Missouri.
“Make no mistake, my office is committed to pursuing legal action against any individual or entity found to be in violation of these laws,” Bailey declared.
Bailey went on to say that the state of Missouri is suing Mayorkas over a “disastrous” and illegal parole program that illegally provides a path to citizenship for hundreds or thousands of undocumented immigrants. He said he will join 19 other state attorneys general.
Mr. Bailey said in his letter that Mr. Mayorkas’ illegal immigrant parole program would result in up to 360,000 illegal immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela being “paroled” into the United States each year.
“Openly inviting illegal aliens to Missouri is not only dangerous, it is costly to Missouri taxpayers, residents, and business owners,” Bailey said.

In his testimony, Sen. Hawley revealed that Mr. Ybarra had been charged with crimes against children in New York and was given a work permit even though the charges were later dismissed by local authorities.

No charges filed, expunged. In November, get this: In November, Ybarra filed an application for employment authorization, and incredibly, it was approved on December 9, 2023. ,” Hawley said.
