Eli Crane ‘Open’ to Supporting MTG’s Motion to Vacate if She Forces Vote

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Eli Crane (R-AZ) on Friday supported Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) motion to vacate the chair against House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). He said he was “positive” about doing so. To make it privileged.

Mr. Klain’s comments came at a press conference with reporters shortly after Mr. Johnson asked for Democratic help in passing rules that would lift foreign aid votes on several bills, which included Hardline conservatives like him were opposed.

“Would you consider supporting Congressman Greene if she brought this resolution to a vote?” a reporter asked Mr. Crane.

“I’m open to it,” he said.

“My position is open,” Crane said a while ago. “I’m not going to tell you guys what I’m going to do. And let’s see if it happens. Let’s see if this triggers the trigger. It’s not up to me. But , I’m definitely frustrated, as are many participants at the conference and many Americans.”

Greene’s motion to resign, co-sponsored by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), is not privileged and does not require the House to immediately take it up.

Asked whether he had discussed with Mr. Greene the motion to resign, which can be made privileged at any time and force the House to consider it within two days, Mr. Crane said he had not. However, he did communicate with Johnson to address his grievances.

“He knows how frustrated I am, and I’ll do it as respectfully as I can, but I’m not going to pull any punches, because at the end of the day, this is not me or Chairman Mike. “Because it’s much bigger than the motion to vacate Johnson,” Crane said. “For me, this comes down to: Are we going to save this country or are we going to continue with the one-party dictatorship in Washington that continues to sell out the American people?”

Klain also said that “based on the conversations I heard during the meeting,” the “atmosphere is deteriorating” beyond the House Freedom Caucus to the House Republican leadership.

“I think the speaker should take that seriously. I think he’s been told in every way what we know, and we’ll see what he does with it.” added Crane.

Klain’s comments came as his Arizona colleague, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), announced he would support Greene’s motion after Johnson ceded control of the House to Democrats. .
