A 13-year-old Pennsylvania middle school student is accused of launching an unprovoked attack on a classmate this week, Upper Gwynedd Police confirmed to FOX News Digital.
FOX 29 reports that the student approached the 12-year-old victim from behind in the cafeteria Wednesday and began violently hitting her in the head with a Stanley Cup.
Surveillance video of the incident viewed by FOX 29 shows the student bleeding from the head. She was assaulted and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Sarah Batley, a parent at Pembroke Middle School, told FOX 29 that her son witnessed the alleged attack and texted her about it.

“‘Mom, I’m scared,'” she said of his message. “I can’t even begin to describe what it feels like to receive a text message like that when your child is at school.”
She added, “He’s been a mess ever since. I feel like he had to fail so many times along the way for this to happen.”
Another mother said she alerted the school’s counselor in advance of possible charges in the case because the 13-year-old student had threatened her daughter.

“Had the multiple complaints been taken seriously, that girl would have been in school today.” She added that her daughter was “traumatized.”

School officials sent a memo to parents Wednesday night saying resources will be provided to students who witnessed the incident and the principal plans to meet with students Thursday to discuss the incident.
