Two Young Siblings Killed When Suspected Drunk Driver Slams into Party

A drunk driver crashed into a building where a children’s birthday party was being held in Berlin Charter Township, Michigan, killing two children and injuring several others, authorities said Saturday.

Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnow said the car crashed into the Swan Boat Club facility and came to a stop.He identified the two children as siblings, an 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, NBC News report Saturday.

Mr Goodnow said about 13 other people were injured in the incident, nine of whom were taken to hospital with “serious life-threatening injuries”.

The 66-year-old female driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified at this time, was taken into police custody on suspicion of causing death by driving under the influence and is being held in the Monroe County Jail. First responders said the scene was extremely chaotic and emotions were high among those directly involved and those who witnessed the horrific incident.
