Mohamed Hadid, the father of supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, apologized Saturday for several inflammatory comments he made toward New York Democratic Congressman Richie Torres.
new york post The billionaire real estate developer reportedly sent a direct message to the congressman accusing him of being a “slave to the white man” for his continued support for Israel after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. It is said that the message was sent multiple times from a verified Instagram account.
“You guys are worse than the rats in the New York sewage system. They have bigger brains than you. You might get a job as a bouncer at a gay bar,” Hadid wrote.
“Make sure to dress like the KKK to hide that ugly gray face,” he added. “I know about the Bronx.”

Another message read: “You are a rare person in Israel and AIPAC who is black, has a colorful mouth, and is asking for a salary of over 500,000.”
Torres, who in 2021 became one of the first openly gay African-American members of Congress, later commented on the matter on Sunday’s X Post, calling Hadid a “racist comment.” It was criticized for throwing
“Since October 7th, I have been the target of racist rhetoric from Mohamed Hadid for the thought crime of supporting Israel. “If you do so, you will become the subject of racist hatred and harassment,” Torres wrote.
After the article was published, Hadid issued an apology for her comments, but continued to attack Torres as a “butt” for defending Israel.
“I must apologize, not for the anger I felt, but for the words I used to express that anger. I meant to express how Mr. Torres is being exploited by Israel. The state… “In addition to mistreating black and brown people, pinkwashing uses the projection of gay rights as a shield for human rights violations to denounce their brutality,” Hadid wrote.

“Having lived as a refugee from the country where I and my ancestors were born for 76 years and witnessed genocide unfold, my emotions are at an all-time high,” Hadid continued. “I see American politicians acting as AIPAC’s genocidal messengers.”
“I used the wrong words to express this anger, but the anger is understandable. “It’s wrong to send them to work. I apologize to the community for leading the conversation.” On this, and even if you’re even a minute away from Palestine, pay attention to Palestinian freedom,” he concluded.

In comments to the New York Post, Torres attacked Hadid’s latest comments as disingenuous and “deceptive.”
“The so-called apology is as fraudulent as the person himself. Mr. Hadid has been exposed as a rabid racist through and through, and his pathetic attempts to charge him with ‘vile crimes’ will fool no one. “No,” Torres said.

Torres’ office addressed the comments in a response to Fox News Digital.
Days after the deadly Oct. 7 attack on Israel, Hadid called the Israeli prime minister “the new Hitler of our time.”
“This is in no way about Hamas. This is a new grave for 2.5 million Palestinians…a new Hitler for our time.” “I did,” he wrote under an ABC News article.
