A Chicago police officer who was shot and killed while walking home from work early Sunday morning had his gun and car stolen during the attack, according to local reports.
Police officer Luis Huesca, 30, was killed in front of his home in Gage Park. Officers responded to the 3100 block of W. 56th St. to the sound of gunshots and found Officer Huesca outside with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Fox News Digital previously reported that Huesca’s car was taken during the incident and was found nearby a short time later, but police have not confirmed whether the shooting was part of a carjacking.

Multiple sources also spoke to ABC. Chicago affiliates Huesca’s gun was also stolen. Chicago Police Department was contacted by Fox News Digital but would not confirm this.
The area where Huesca was shot was the same area where his friend and colleague, Officer Andrews Vasquez-Lasso, was shot and killed in the line of duty last year. FOX32 reported Monday. It was just two days before his 31st birthday.
There are no suspects in custody at this time.

Chicago City Councilman Anthony Napolitano told “Fox & Friends” earlier Monday that he believes the city’s law enforcement officers are in incredible danger.
“This is dangerous. It’s probably the most dangerous job held in the city of Chicago, other than just being a citizen. No one is safe here right now. Our City Council leadership They’re more concerned about funding and getting more votes than they are going into the next election so they can protect our city and its residents,” he said. Ta.
