
Anti-Israel demonstrators carrying smoke bombs marched toward NYPD headquarters late Monday after the number of students arrested at New York University reportedly rose to more than 150.
Video from Monday night’s protest shows demonstrators marching toward One Police Plaza with bright smoke bombs held above their heads, while other protesters wave flags, beat drums, and more. They are seen shouting “Gaza!”
Other footage shows New York City police officers in riot gear monitoring protesters chanting “We will liberate Palestine while we live.”
By late Monday, the NYU camp had been dispersed and more than 150 protesters had been arrested. A source told PIX 11.
The NYPD could not confirm that number early Tuesday.
A NYU spokesperson said the university sent a written request to the NYPD for police intervention as “disorderly, disruptive and hostile” protesters filled Gould Plaza.
The protesters were demanding that New York University divest from being a weapons manufacturer and end its relationship with Tel Aviv University.
Employees from downtown universities were also seen participating in the rally.

Monday’s scenes at New York University came as the university’s campus has become a hotbed of anti-Semitic protests since Hamas terrorists launched a surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7, and the Jewish state is currently under military control. As the response continued, a wave of protests echoed across the city and the United States.
More than 100 people were arrested at Columbia University, which moved classes online on Monday due to safety concerns for students at its Manhattan campus.
On Sunday, the school’s prominent rabbi urged students at Columbia University and Barnard College to stay home, and university officials told them they could take classes online.
Their protests also followed last week’s Congressional hearing with Columbia University President Minoush Shafik, who spoke about the university’s response to anti-Semitism.
Dozens of people were arrested at Yale University on Monday, and campus quads have been set up at other campgrounds from Michigan to Massachusetts.
