Caleb Williams compared to Prince by ex-NFL scout like it was a bad thing

Caleb Williams was groomed from a young age to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. His standout prep career at powerhouse Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., made Williams a top-10 recruit nationally and a top quarterback candidate. After leaving Oklahoma for USC after his freshman year, Williams exploded as the best QB in college football, winning the Heisman Trophy and leading professional scouts to consider his eventual NFL career. I salivated.

Williams is now ready for that moment as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. chicago bears Preserve selection. Williams is a rare prospect who can hold onto the honor of being the No. 1 pick from the beginning of the season until draft day. He’s clearly a great prospect for an NFL QB, and some say he’s a generational prospect.

Still, Williams’ NFL stock is under attack heading into the draft for some strange reasons. The 22-year-old QB has painted his fingernails and cried on the field, but he doesn’t seem tough enough, manly or otherwise to old-school scouts. According to a report on journalist Pablo Torre’s investigative show, a former NFL scout came up with an outrageous comparison about Williams.

“The book about him is that he’s kind of a weird kid,” the former NFL scout told reporter David Fleming. “One GM told me it’s like Prince playing quarterback.” Watch the video here:

There are several takeaways from this report.First, these comments former NFL scouts, because that’s the kind of complaint only an old man could raise. Williams is the very first Gen Z football star to be applauded on social media and prone to attacking misunderstood norms of masculinity.

Secondly, how is it bad to be compared to Prince! Prince is one of the greatest performers of all time, a widely beloved creative genius with a lasting legacy. If Caleb Williams can follow in Prince’s footsteps, he’ll be fine.

Bears fans weren’t mad about the comparison.

Don’t forget that prince Put on the best halftime show ever The Bears last appeared in the Super Bowl in 2007.

If the Bears can get a football of Prince’s caliber in this draft, it will be the best run in franchise history. One thing’s for sure: people can’t stop thinking weird things about Williams. Hopefully this changes during his pro career, but don’t get your hopes up.
