Ecuadoran Man Visits U.S. Despite Being Wanted for Rape

An Ecuadorian citizen was allowed to enter the United States on a visa even though he was wanted for rape in his home country, federal authorities said.

Instead of the men leaving the United States according to the terms of their visas, hundreds of thousands of others did not. We do it every year.

President Joe Biden’s authorities allowed him to enter the United States on a visa, but the man was wanted since February 2, 2022, on suspicion of raping a woman in Ecuador.

“This Ecuadorian non-citizen is wanted in his home country for the sexual assault of a woman,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer Todd Lyons said in a statement. “Every minute he walked free posed a threat to the residents of our community.”

Shortly after overstaying his visa, ICE’s National Crime Analysis and Targeting Center confirmed that the man was residing in his sanctuary state of Massachusetts, even though he was wanted on rape charges.

ICE agents later arrested the man at his home in Worcester, Massachusetts. He remains in ICE custody pending deportation to his native Ecuador on rape charges.
