He seemed like a man who had taken the burden of responsibility off his shoulders, but the burden still remained.
On the day Congress and President Biden signed a massive U.S. foreign aid plan, FOX News had an exclusive interview with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskiy. Of that amount, $61 billion would go to Ukraine’s military in its fight against Russia, but it had been withheld for six months.
“We waited six months,” he said in an English-language interview. “$61 billion of ‘hope’. Thank you to the American people.”
The current challenge is to deliver weapons to the outnumbered Ukrainian army, which has been outnumbered by the Russian army. Pentagon officials said Ukraine’s military may soon receive some weapons from neighboring Germany.

“God bless us so that we can resolve this as soon as possible,” President Zelenskiy said, adding: “Otherwise they (the Russians) will push us back.
Zelenskiy is not only fighting Russia, he is also fighting for attention. He watched as the United States and other allies focused their efforts to fend off attacks from Iran and defend Israel.
I asked him if he was jealous.
“We have seen it,” he said, “which is why if the West wants to be true allies, it must demonstrate the same on our territory.”

Zelenskiy also monitors American politics. Not only would the 112 Republicans who voted again help the House, but former President Trump could regain the White House and take a tougher stance on Ukraine.
We asked him if he could work with Mr. Trump. “Of course, the United States is our strategic partner, so we will cooperate in any way possible,” he replied.

Casualties are increasing in Ukraine, not only among military personnel but also among civilians.
We asked him how he maintained morale in the country during these difficult days.
President Zelenskiy replied: “That is the most difficult question for me.” “That’s a question with no real answer.”

Finally, I asked him perhaps the most difficult question: whether Ukraine will beat Russia.
“It has to be done. There is no other choice,” he said. “I don’t know what kind of victory it will be. I don’t know if everyone will be happy. But we have no other choice. We have to win and we will.”
President Zelenskiy then stood up, shook my hand, and thanked me for coming. I thanked him for taking a special look at his challenge. The man’s face looked tired and emotional…but determined.
