President Joe Biden, 81, has implemented a new strategy of walking to and from Marine One with multiple entourages to “reduce attention” to his physical illness, according to Axios’ Hans Nichols. Alex Thompson reported Friday.
After the president’s annual physical examination in February, White House physician Kevin O’Connor discovered that Biden had nerve damage in his legs, causing a stiff gait.
Health problems may explain why he has trouble staying upright. Biden has stumbled, stumbled, stumbled at least five times during his presidency.

Social media accounts constantly share videos of Biden walking awkwardly. These videos forced him to adopt a new routine, which he started in mid-April. report:
- Senior aides such as Chief of Staff Bruce Reid and Annie Tomasini, as well as aide Mike Donilon, were among those who walked with the president on the lawn on the way to and from the helicopter.
- Since the change, some advisers believe they have a better picture of Mr. Biden’s trips to and from the helicopter, and they expect him to continue to be accompanied by aides. […]
- Since April 16, Biden has been accompanied by staff or members of Congress on nine out of 10 trips he has made on foot to Marine One and back.
This is not the first strategy Biden has used to change the image of his contemporaries. He had previously begun boarding his Air Force One from a short set of stairs at the back rather than a high staircase at the front.

Biden also did not wear typical dress shoes with his suit. He wears specially made athletic shoes to help him walk, which is typical clothing for older people.
