King Charles returning to royal duties following cancer diagnosis

King Charles continues to battle cancer but is well enough to return to work.

The British monarch plans to resume royal duties next week, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace obtained by FOX News Digital. The news came after the monarch took a three-month leave following a cancer diagnosis.

The 75-year-old queen and his wife Queen Camilla will visit a cancer treatment center on Tuesday, the palace announced. The couple will meet with both patients and medical professionals there.

“This visit is the first of a number of foreign engagements that His Majesty will undertake in the coming weeks,” the palace said in a statement.

Another event is planned for June, when Prince Charles and his wife Camilla will host a state guest of the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

“As the first anniversary of their coronation approaches, Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the overwhelming kindness and goodwill they have received from around the world during the joys and challenges of the past year,” the statement concluded.

A palace spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Prince Charles is well enough to resume his duties, but is still undergoing treatment for cancer.

“His Majesty’s treatment program will continue, but doctors are satisfied with the progress made so far and the King is now able to resume many of his official duties. “Future efforts will be undertaken to minimize the risk to His Majesty’s continued “Adjustments will be made as necessary to limit the spread of COVID-19.”

A spokesperson said: “His Majesty is greatly encouraged to resume his duties and is extremely grateful to the medical team for their continued care and expertise.”

The Palace added that it was “too early to say” how long the King’s treatment would last, “However, His Majesty’s medical team are very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive that the King’s recovery will continue.” I’m keeping my attitude,” he added.

Plans for Charles’ future activities will be made with the advice of doctors, and “appropriate adjustments will be made as necessary to minimize risks to Her Majesty’s continued recovery.”

The announcement came just days after the king gave his daughter-in-law, Duchess Kate, a new historic title.

On Tuesday, the monarch appointed the Princess of Wales as a Royal Companion in the Order of Companions of Honor. The mother of three is the first member of the royal family to be appointed a Companion of Honor. It recognizes her accomplishments in the arts, sciences, medicine, and public service. It is also one of the royal family’s most prestigious appointments.

Middleton’s latest royal title is seen as a show of support from the king as they both battle cancer.

The palace added that the king “has decided to make his diagnosis public in order to avoid speculation and in the hope that it will help the public understand the lives of people around the world who suffer from cancer.”

In a video shared in March, the Princess of Wales revealed that she too was battling a type of cancer and was undergoing preventive chemotherapy.

Prince Charles became king in September 2022 after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died at the age of 96 after 70 years on the throne.

The 42-year-old Princess of Wales is currently taking a break from royal duties to recover. Her husband Prince William, heir to the throne, took time off to care for her three children. The king’s eldest son then resumed his royal duties.
