Anti-Israel agitators flood DC streets, take aim at White House Correspondent’s Dinner: ‘Shame on you!’

Anti-Israel agitators marched through the streets of Washington, D.C., on Saturday to protest U.S. support for the Israeli military and targeted members of the media attending the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The left-wing activist group Code Pink organized a protest through Kalorama Park to the Washington Hilton, where the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was being held on Saturday night.

On its website, the group denounces the media as “end users.”[ing]”The White House supports Israel.

“The White House Correspondents Dinner has traditionally been a symbol of journalistic integrity and freedom, but it has now become a place to praise and support the actions of the administration,” Code Pink claims on its website.

“The American media perpetuates anti-Palestinian rhetoric and ignores Israeli war crimes. The Correspondents’ Dinner is nothing more than a celebration and endorsement of the regime’s actions. That’s not journalism. That’s complicity. ”

Footage shows a crowd of people beating drums and shouting “shame on you!” For the well-dressed crowd heading to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, many of the men are wearing tuxedos and women are wearing ballroom dresses.

Many of the demonstrators wore keffiyehs, waved Palestinian flags and held placards deploring the loss of life in Gaza.

It was unclear how much of an impact the protests would have on President Biden, who was scheduled to leave the White House around 7 p.m.

He will take the stage at the dinner around 8 p.m. and is scheduled to speak later Saturday night.
