Harvey Weinstein was examined by a doctor upon his arrival at Rikers Island prison on Friday and was admitted to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, his lawyer Arthur Aidala told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Aidala told the outlet that Weinstein, whose 2020 rape conviction was overturned by the New York Court of Appeals on Thursday, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for further tests.

Craig Rosfeld, Weinstein’s prison consultant and DOCS certified representative, told FOX News Digital: “We appreciate the consideration and discretion of the New York City DOC in treating Harvey Weinstein’s medical issues in the best possible manner. “We will do so,” he said in a statement.
“Harvey is under the custody of the New York City Department of Corrections and New York City H+H/Correctional Health Services, with DOCS and CHS providing care for his medical needs,” Rosfeld added. “We are grateful for their smooth handling of our eventual return to the prison ward at Bellevue.”
Weinstein’s attorney, Judah Engelmayer, told Fox News Digital that Weinstein was moved to Bellevue on Saturday morning.
“At the same time, we remain cautiously optimistic and ready to go to trial if the situation arises,” Engelmayer added. “Now there are fewer charges and no cases are filed against him illegally. We all enjoy the same rights when it comes to the justice system, but defendants have an additional right to due process. “We are pleased with the appeal,” the court judge observed. ”

On Thursday, the Court of Appeals ruled 4-3 that Weinstein’s trial judge should not allow women who say he assaulted them, even if their accusations are not specifically related to the accusations against entertainment mogul Weinstein. After Weinstein was sentenced in New York in 2020, he was extradited to California in July 2021 to fight charges of sexual assault by four women in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills between 2004 and 2013.
Additionally, in December 2022, Weinstein was found guilty of rape, forced oral copulation, and another count of sexual misconduct involving a woman known as Jane Doe 1.
