My ‘Big Fear from the BLM Movement’ Is Outsiders Causing Violence and Campus Protesters Getting Blamed

On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” MSNBC hosts and washington post Associate Editor Jonathan Capehart said campus protesters who say bigoted things should be expelled, but added, “His great fear of the BLM movement is that people from outside will commit violence.” “and the responsibility for that is to be placed on those who are legitimately protesting.” And that’s my big concern when I talk about these recent protests across the country. ”

rear new york times Columnist David Brooks said, “There are a lot of people who are anti-Semitic and violent,” and Capehart said he agreed with Brooks, adding, “There are a lot of people who are anti-Semitic and violent.” “I think there’s a lot of nuance missing from the discussion,” he added. Not everyone protesting is anti-Semitic, supporting violence, or inciting violence. They’re there for a good reason. I agree with David. If someone is disrupting people in the university community and saying racist and anti-Semitic things, then yes, they should be expelled. But we also need to be mindful of who the people who are saying these things are. Some may be members of the university or university community, while others may come from outside. ”

He added, “My biggest fear about the BLM movement is that people from the outside will incite violence and the blame will be pushed onto those who are legitimately protesting. That’s my big concern when we talk about protests.”
