BUDAPEST, Hungary — Mercedes Schlapp, an organizer with the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Now and former strategic communications director for President Trump, will discuss Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s corporate records trial against former President Donald Trump. He called it “authoritarian.”
“This trial in New York is authoritarian. It’s exactly what you see in a dictatorship, where the judicial system is abusing its power, trying to undermine this president, trying to throw him in jail.” Schlapp told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview at CPAC Hungary.
Schlapp said he hoped the jury would be fair, although he said there was “no due process and there would be no fair trial in New York.”
“I hope the jury will see this fraud for what it is: an attempt to criminalize President Biden’s political opponents,” she said. “And we know there is coordination between many of these lawsuits against Donald Trump and the White House, and we hope that gets exposed as well.”
CPAC Hungary was held in Budapest on Thursday and Friday and attracted more than 3,000 participants, making it Europe’s largest conservative gathering. This is the third time since its release in 2022.
Schlapp also had a message for European progressives concerned about Trump’s possible return to the White House in 2024.
“There is no question that there is a propaganda campaign by left-wing media to not only destroy and imprison Donald Trump, but to incite fear among the public,” she said.
She added, “I worked for President Trump, and he was the most reasonable, common sense president I’ve ever seen. America needs to be strong. Someone who understands that we have to confront our adversaries, Russia, China, Iran. We need to see how we can help Israel in its fight against this terrorist group and ensure that ISIS is once again defeated after Donald Trump is no longer in office. did.”
Schlapp added: “Donald Trump is not only someone who can negotiate deals and work with our allies in Europe and our allies in Asia, but he’s also someone who can say, ‘Look, we’re not going to be messed with.’ I think we need to understand that.” ”
