A total of 25 men, mostly of South Asian descent, have been charged with “extremely abhorrent” rape, sexual abuse and trafficking of young girls in the North Kirklees area of West Yorkshire between 1999 and 2012. He was sentenced to 346 years in prison.
Operation Tourway, launched in 2015, is an investigation focused on the towns of Batley and Dewsbury, where 25 men have been linked to “absolutely shocking crimes” of sexual abuse, rape and human trafficking against eight girls. Police said they treated the girls as “defenseless.” Products are abused and traded on a whim. ”
The arrests were made in late 2018, and all 24 people, most of them of South Asian descent, were indicted in December 2020. The men were convicted in a series of five trials held at Leeds Crown Court between 2022 and 2024, but there were reporting restrictions. It was lifted only on Friday.
Commenting on the conviction, Chief Inspector Oliver Coates, of Kirklees Police, said: Said: “Now that reporting restrictions have been lifted, we can for the first time reveal details of all those sentenced so far in the long trial process.”
“Throughout the past two years, jurors have heard details of the most shocking crimes committed against the victims in these cases.
“Some of these men each received prison sentences of over 30 years for the multiple crimes they committed and the incredibly callous and degrading treatment of young girls at the time.
“Men like Asif Ali, who was convicted of 14 rapes alone, commit horrific sexual abuse on an almost unbelievable scale, leaving young victims to be abused and trafficked. I saw it as a defenseless product.”

DCI Coates went on to praise the courage of the women who came forward and identified their abusers as girls, saying: “Thanks to the courage of the women who came forward and identified their abusers, criminal acts and actions were prevented. “We were able to take action against a man who could only be considered a problem.” It is depicted as extremely abhorrent.
“But far from being helpless, these young women have fought back as adults and taken responsibility for their crimes. He showed true courage and determination.
“We take some measure of pride in knowing that thanks to them, our police force and our partners have been able to launch a huge and extremely difficult investigation, removing sex offenders from our streets for years to come.” I hope you find closure and satisfaction.”
