Ryan and his wife, Valerie, were arrested at the airport on April 12 as they returned from a vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands, where they were celebrating a friend’s 40th birthday.
Valerie, who is currently at home in Oklahoma, told guest host Carly Shimkus that the hardest part was explaining the situation to her two children.

Ryan and Valerie claim they didn’t know the bullet was in their carry-on bag. Ryan describes himself as a “responsible gun owner” and said gun safety is something he has always emphasized to his children, but the incident over the holidays was a simple mistake.
“We’re human and we make mistakes. And it was just an oversight. I never saw the bullets go in there. Unfortunately, those are the ones I missed. Not only that, but the TSA also missed it.”

Ryan said the bag was used on a deer hunt in Texas last year.
Watson and another American arrested for the same reason, Tyler Wenrich, are scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
