Columbia University has reportedly begun suspending students involved in anti-Israel camps set up on campus grounds.
Ben Chan, Vice President of Public Affairs revealed In a statement, the university said it began the suspension process after giving the students a 2 p.m. deadline to leave the campsite.
“We have begun suspending students as part of the next phase of our efforts to ensure campus safety,” Chan said in a statement.
In a statement, Mr Chan said: revealed This means that students who are suspended will not be eligible to complete the semester or graduate.

Earlier in the day, Columbia University distributed a letter to anti-Israel demonstrators attending the encampment giving them a deadline to “gather” their belongings and “leave the encampment” by 2 p.m.
The letter describes the camp as creating an “unwelcoming environment” for local residents, adding that students are beginning exams and preparing to graduate.
At the top of the letter were written in red ink, “Colombia will burn” and “I didn’t read that. Liberate Palestine.”
Since the first anti-Israel camp was set up at Columbia University, several others have been set up over the past week and a half. Establishment Yale University, George Washington University, Princeton University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and University of California, Los Angeles.

Anti-Semitic incidents have skyrocketed in the United States since October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages.
