LSU women’s basketball star Frauge Johnson cheers on Haley Van Lith.
Johnson, 20, defended her former teammate when asked about Van Lith’s decision to transfer to TCU after one season with the Lady Tigers in a recent interview. “The Baller Alert Show” Podcast.
“No, no, you can’t do that,” Johnson said, interrupting hosts Byron Turner and Sean Ferrari Simmons. Simmons stacked up at point guard for her performance in LSU’s loss to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Elite Eight. The 2024 NCAA Women’s Tournament will be held earlier this month.
“We couldn’t protect that girl for 40 minutes. But at the end of the day, she rose to the challenge. We had to follow the reconnaissance report.”
When Turner asked, “What was the scouting report?” Johnson quipped, “The interview is over!” I’m getting out of here! ”
The “Big 4” rapper went on to explain that he supports Van Lith, who guarded Clark for most of LSU’s 94-87 loss to Iowa.
“Listen, I had to follow the tally report,” said Johnson, who had 23 points, six rebounds and two assists. “After I went over it, I talked to the coach because I was going over the scouting report the night before. For me, it was like a supportive teammate…I thought about it and And I just had to believe in the game plan.”
Van Lith started what would be his final game at LSU and had nine points, one rebound and one assist.
She struggled to defend Clark, who scored 41 points and had four rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes.
Many were perplexed that LSU head coach Kim Mulkey didn’t make any adjustments and kept Van Lith on Clark for the majority of the game.

Turner and Simmons explained that Van Lith is no match for Clark, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer among men and women, in a March Madness contest.
“She transferred to a new school. [of LSU] Because she put a bucket over them,” Turner said.
“Well, she needed orthotics for her feet,” Simmons added.
Van Lith, 22 years old; announced She spoke about her commitment to TCU on social media on Saturday.
“Pen has officially hit paper,” she wrote, adding a frog emoji, a reference to TCU’s mascot.
Van Lith was with Louisville from 2020-23 and garnered attention as an elite scorer.
In his junior season, the Adidas athlete averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists before entering the transfer portal.
Van Lith transferred to LSU after the Lady Tigers defeated Clark and the Hawkeyes in the 2023 title game to win the first national championship in program history.
She will compete in the Big 12 Conference as a member of the TCU Horned Frogs in her final year of eligibility.
Clark was selected first overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
