Georgia DA Fani Willis Skips First Primary Debate

Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis was absent from the debate with the Democratic front-runner.

DA candidate Christian Wisesmith debated from an empty podium during the first Democratic debate on Sunday. Instead, Willis chose to participate in a “self-care fair” with Atlanta City Council members.

Smith used the opportunity to infuriate his opponent over his actions in prosecuting President Donald Trump and his co-defendants in the election interference case. In particular, he focused on her relationship with her prosecutor, Nathan Wade.

“When you pay one lawyer nearly $1 million to handle one case, the rest of us are left vulnerable. It hurts everyone in Fulton County,” he said.

Despite the criticism, Smith did not attack the lawsuit against President Trump himself.

Willis reportedly maintains a strong lead. According to a poll by fox 5 atlantashe has a 70 point lead.

The Democratic primary for Fulton County DA will be held on May 28th.th. The winner will face a Republican candidate in November.
