Joe Biden’s aides have spliced together eight 24-second scripted videos of the president, raising concerns about whether Biden can deliver simple statements without error.
- A Harvard-Harris University poll recently found that about a third of Democrats doubt Mr. Biden’s mental health.
- Another poll revealed that 82 percent of Americans were concerned about his physical and mental health.
- Only about a third of voters say Biden is physically and mentally fit to serve a second term, according to Quinnipiac.
Politicians often record their statements on camera for social media, but few videos are as edited as Biden’s 24-second video. The exception to the repeated jump cuts are videos made for TikTok.
In contrast to the 81-year-old Biden, former President Donald Trump often broadcasts long, uncut videos. Mr. Trump conveys his message in a natural way that resonates with many voters.
“There are eight separate jumps/hard cuts in this 20-second video,” Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chan said. Posted “That means Biden could barely read the script without messing it up, so he had to piece together all the usable parts. And even the ‘usable’ parts are bad.” ”

Last week, Biden appeared to have difficulty speaking clearly during a campaign rally. According to the video, he read the word “pause” from a teleprompter rather than pausing his statement to allow applause.
“Imagine what we can do next,” Biden said. “Four more years. Pause.”
Special Counsel Robert Hur characterized Biden as an “old man with a bad memory” who is often plagued by gaffes. “Are you ready to choose freedom over democracy?” Biden Asked Supporter of April.
Earlier this year, Biden argued for reelection and said he was ready for four more years because “I’m in the 20th century,” before correcting himself to say “the 21st century.”
To reduce mistakes, White House aides have given Mr. Biden notecards and suggested he follow a prewritten script, Reuters reported in January. His planned words are usually fully “crafted and vetted” by a number of advisors.
